  • Overview:Chinese New Year marks the beginning of the Chinese lunar calendar. The festivities are heavy from 1st to 5th in first month of the lunar year. The Chinese calls it "Guonian", which means farewell to the old and welcome in the new year. It is considered the most important holiday in a year.

Intro

Chinese New Year is also called Spring Festival. It is the celebration of the coming of spring. A new year for sowing and harvesting. The Spring Festival has always been the most important holiday in Chinese culture. The festivities starts from the last month of the lunar new year. With roots deep in the agriculture past of the Chinese society, this holiday is celebrated with songs and dances to welcome the new year and give thanks to the gods for the past year's blessing.
