  • Dragon Boat Festival

  • Overview:The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the three major Chinese holidays. The traditions and customs almost all point back to memorializing the ancient poet Qu Yuan from ancient Chu state. This holiday hence is also called "Poet Day" in some places. The most popular customs on this day are dragon boat racing and eating rice dumplings. It is said that when Qu Yuan cast himself into the river people were search for him by rowing the boat up and down the river. This gradually evolved into dragon boat racing in modern times.
